We all hear the phrase 'soulmate' used and misused a lot. What does it mean to be a soulmate? What are some of the qualities two people would hafta have to be considered soulmates?

It is hard to define. Some people see "soulmate" as the one person they were 'destined' to be with. Others think your soulmate could even be your best friend, not their s.o. As for me? I think something like the first one. I dunno if I beleive there is only one person out there who is right for us, who were are predestined to be with. I kinda like to beleive in free will. But, I do think there are people out there that are perfect...for us. I think that there is a person or people out there who we just seem to...click with.
That when you meet that right person, you feel you've been searching your whole life for them. I feel that way about tuxguy. He is unequivocally my soulmate. ![]() |

i would agree... i mean a soulmate is like the one you find that is perfect for you...some one that you kow you can spend the rest of your life with there maybe more than one. Its a hard thing to find an actual "soulmate".

I used to think that there was one soulmate out there and that when I would meet him - that would be it. So when it happened and I thought I had found him and he told me he felt the same and that we were one. That was it. The tower of Babylon.
Perhaps in the old days because people couldn't move that much, communicate, read, get educated - the soulmate was easier to find. They lived nearby, there wasn't that much choice. Things were simple. Sophistication made it harder to be compatible and patient with each other. Today - I think that at different stages of your life you meet "soulmates" - this from the little boy you held hands with in kindy, your high school then college sweetheart and finally the adult love. That adult love is very hard to find because we change. And you don't want to compromise either. And sometimes you do something wrong and realize too late you've ruined it. If you do find it - it is the ultimate gift. That and having children (although out of context here). Congratulations to the ones that did. For the rest of us, I will pray. And possibly light a candle...Let's agree and not give up until we found that not so perfect person whose hand we will want to hold as we are looking at the last sunset of our life. |
