Default Why do people judge certain people but not others?

For example, Person A can go around insulting people, criticising people, badmouthing people behind their backs, manipulating their own parents etc,
but nobody hates Person A.
Person A did many evil things but nobody commented anything at all.
Everybody knows the things that Person A did but nobody bothered to mention anything.

Whereas Person B only did a little bad thing such as playing a small prank on someone they dislike, and everyone start to throw hate comments on Person B.
One small evil deed from Person B can receive 10 mean comments from others. Whereas Person A can do 10 evil deeds and receive 0 mean comments from others.

Why is this so? Why do people condemn certain people but not condemn others? How do people choose their victims?

It has a lot to do with how we think about people. It is likely people are not used to person B doing something "bad", so they reacted to it negatively.

People are likely used to person A doing bad things, so that is normal and keeps status quo.

Notice how people are resistant to change. When you want to do something that is not really accepted within your social circle, people will resist it. They are not used to it, and if you are doing something uncomfortable (which is in many cases synonymous to your growth), they realize that they should grow too. And that is hard - it requires change.

I agree 100% with what fusnot said already. Sorry I can't add anything more to it.
