Default Phoenix Won't Rise Again?

Does age 34 seem a little young to retire? Apparently not for Oscar-nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix. According to "Extra," Phoenix is leaving acting to pursue a music career with his band The Lady is a Tramp. At a Paul Newman-backed charity benefit in San Francisco on Tuesday, Joaquin announced his plans to move on.

"I want to take this opportunity ... just talk a little bit about the fact that this will be my last performance as an actor... I'm not doing films anymore." Phoenix said. He is starring in a film called “Two Lovers” with Gwyneth Paltrow, which is slated to be released in February.

When the shocked “Extra” reporter responded by asking Phoenix if he was serious, the star answered simply, “Yeah. I'm working on my music. I'm done. I've been through that."

The statement has also been confirmed by Phoenix’s rep. Let’s hope that Joaquin’s foray into rock ‘n’ roll stardom is more successful than his peers who have attempted to make the same move. I haven’t heard much from Dogstar or The Bacon Brothers in a while, have you?
