A General Question...

Just posing a general question here...how long would you chat with someone until you're comfortable meeting them? Would you go through the process of talking on IM, then phone and then going from there?

What do you guys think, that have experience with this?

It's all about how much you have talked together and how comfortable you feel. I met one girl online, a friend of a friend. I got her number first....but then ended up seeing her unexpectedly at a party (due to her knowing one of my friends).
In general though if I didn't know someone at all I would at least want to talk to her on the phone a few times before we met up.

I agree with the guys. Talk on the phone, exchange pictures or maybe talk over video cam (if you 2 have it).

As far as a right time to meet there really isn't any right time, BUT you do have to becareful & make sure that the person you are talking to is really who they are. All that comes from talking on the phone, possible video chatting, exchanging pics & generally getting to know each other by talking.

ive talked online for about a week or two, and if we had a lot in common i think i would start talking on the phone for a week or two, then want to meet. but its really differnet for everyone, some people i know talked then decided they had to meet in that moment and now theyre married, you know? it just depends what both people are comfortable with, and when it feels right for you

It's up to the person and how you feel...do talk on the phone first though and when you meet do it in a public place...go for a coffee or something like that...you can always leave then if you don't like where it is going...and you always have to think about the safety thing when talking to people online.

I dated someone for about 6 months by knowing them first online so it is worth a shot..he was a good person but in the long run we just weren't right together, so we never fell in love...but I would always tell people to go for it as I know many people who are in happy relationships due to meeting someone online first. :)
