McDonald's fines slow-eating customers

Customers of McDonald's in the UK have been warned that they will be slapped with a $290 fine if they don't scoff down their food within 45 minutes.
Motorists who linger for too long in the car park are receiving fines from a private company that manages the burger chain's car parks, the Guardian reports.
Anyone who fails to pay faces an increased fine and threats of court action.
The 45 minute restrictions had been introduced because customers were abusing the car parks, a McDonald's spokesperson said.
Signs explaining the policy and leaflets outlining the consequences had been handed out, she said.
One motorist, Jamie Thomson, told The Guardian he had been on a lunch break for about an hour in the car park and received a fine for $290 — or $175 if he paid quickly — in the mail about a week later.
When Thomson demanded photographic proof of his "offence", he was told he'd have to fork out extra for the photo.
His fine now stands at $490.
