View Full Version : Give me back my English!!!
I discovered that i am killed by the recent casual communicator system such as MSN, forums, short text message through mobile phone, and all these just kill my proper use of language.
Just writing a paper or an email stress me out now. I have lost my grammar as well as the tenses and punctuation.....
Felt so guilty and worried. Now writing a paper to submit to the bosses seems to be so taxing on me. I have decided to write proper english in all the forums now and please all my dear sis and bro, uncles and aunties,
Please correct me if you discover i have any mistakes in my posting.:p

Shorthand annoys me as well. Especially when people overuse it. It can take so long to understand sometimes that I don't know why they can't speak like everyone else.
Young people these days :)

well, initially it was cool, fun and interesting....the language that belongs to funky teens.....
then we graduate and start working....we discover that it seems so difficult to draft an error free email.
And especially when you intend to draft an email to your boss, it seems so insulting with many red markings to correct your grammar.
That is when you discover its not really fun with short hand.

Welcome back, Pika. Yeah...I've fallen into that trap too. Though I don't need to send emails for work. I do have to remain conscious when I send other formal emails...to use proper english and not shortcuts and internet abrreviations

Pika, don't worry about it. No one is perfect and never will be, so don't stress over it and be happy, ok?

Hi Tuxette,
a short break to clear all my thoughts.
Yes, we can't deny that it is important that we never forget what we learnt in school. That is why i wanted to brush up my language. :p

Hi riggs,
Thanks. Hi, right back ya !
No, don't thank me, it's the truth. People try so hard to be perfect that they don't enjoy life. It's ok to try your best at what you do, but don't beat yourself up to try to be this perfect person, hun. No one is that, Pika.
The same with trying to keep up with the Jones family. So worried about getting more more more that you are never really happy. Should be thankful for what you got, not trying to out do others in house size, or whatever, and living from paycheck to paycheck to do it. Can't never be truly happy that way.

I had that problem as well when I was chatting a bit more in chat rooms & texting a lot. Now that I've stopped that I am back to proper english. 1 thing I never tried to do is when I was in forums I wouldn't type short hand or whatever type of short hand they call it these days. Although, sometimes I do use a few things here & there.
