What does being emotionally dependent mean?

I have a female friend that got into a relationship with a guy, but she kept telling him that she didnt want a relationship with anyone. When it broke up, she told me that she should have never gotten into the relationship in the first place. When I asked her how it started in the first place, she said it was not planned and it just happened and she couldnt understand how she got so emotionally dependent.

What does this mean?

I guess it could mean that she got used to having someone in her life & that's how things went to a relationship so quickly.

She got used to having someone around, in her life, emotionally, romantically etc..
