Things to Know About Healthy Relationship

People have different views and perception regarding relationships. Relationship is a very broad thing to ponder. It is a word that has very subjective meaning. Relationship is something that should be discovered.

Relationship is a condition or fact of being related, it is a connection or association. A relationship may be something that is connected by blood or marriage. It is a logical or natural association between two or more things. These things maybe connection, correlation, interconnection, interdependence, link, linkage, tie-in or hook up. To most all, relationship is a romantic or sexual involvement.

It is too hard and tough to assess the different aspects of a relationship. The fact that the meaning of the relationship itself is something that is quite indefinable, assessing a relationship is a thing requires decision making and lots of thinking.

The most common question about relationship is about its status. Many ask if their relationship is healthy or not. But how can you say that the relationship is healthy or not?
What makes it healthy?

Some experts have designed something to assess relationship. They have drawn qualities that are necessary to relationship and lack of these qualities means problems or unhealthiness of relationship. The following are the suggested qualities of relationship.

• Mutual respect. Respect in a relationship means that each person values who the other is and understands and would never challenge the other person’s boundaries. Respect for each other means acceptance. For you to be able to respect one another, you should first accept one another.

• Trust. Trust is something that is too hard to be laid in a relationship. This is the thing that most of the relationship is lacking. Trust is necessary for it is the one that measure the love for each other. Trust is always the reason or the root of every argument and discussion of couples. It the root of jealousy, having trust to one another means loving no matter what.

• Honesty. This is the one that goes-in-hand with trust because it is tough to trust someone when one of you is not honest. Honesty should be always present in a relationship. Honesty is telling truth and not hiding things that should be known by the persons involved in a relationship.

• It is not just in bad times that your partner should support you. Some people are great when the whole world is falling apart but can not take being there when things are going right. In a healthy relationship, your significant other is there with a shoulder to cry on.

• Fairness and equality. You need to have give-and-take in a relationship. Things get bad really fast when a relationship turns into a power struggle, with one person fighting to get his or her way all the time.

• Separate identities. In a healthy relationship, everyone needs to make compromises. But it does not mean that you should feel like you are loosing out on being yourself. In a relationship, being the one self is important.

• Good communication. Communication is important because it is the one that make the two connected. It is the one that makes you one. This makes things clear and understood. This is a powerful thing that makes couple bonded.

Relationship is healthy if all qualities mentioned are present in a relationship. Relationship is something that should be taken seriously; it is something that makes man.

Getting into a relationship is never easy for there are always things that will come to test it. You can't always have those traits mentioned above so be prepared to whatever things might come. And also, don't expect that your partner will have all those traits as well.

Communication is the key to any healthy relationship whether dating, friendship, or marriage. Both parties in any friendship need to be totally open and honest and share things and do things together. Both need to know how to speak in words and to do that, one has to know how they feel. One needs to be in touch with their feelings and to open up and not just talk, but listen to what the other party is saying as well. Give each other time to share what is on their mind.

The majority of problems happen in relationships when one or both parties are lacking 'too much' in particular areas personally. I never really understood this philosophy until I got out of the co-dependency and stood on my own. What a change in assessing relationships I've made!!

I depend on my wife's love but we no longer have sex. Is that co-dependence or is she just taking me for granted?
