I've been given the opportunity to start a new job this coming Monday. I'm a little anxious about it, as it's doing something a little different for me. The opportunities financially are a bit more brighter than what I'm presently involved with. I'd appreciate all 'good thoughts' or prayers on Monday... well, all next week really. Thanks. :D

Thanks aussie. :)

Just to get y'all up to speed... I've been at the same company for 27 years. Graphic artist for a printing company, prepress work (camera, negative, printing plate). The new job will cater more to Architects and Engineers pretty much... large document format printing (drawing plans), multiple prints. My job (as I hear it) will be converting digital files as they come in, sending them to the large format printer, and just generally helping wherever they need the help. There will be more customer service involved with this job... at my old job, I was pretty much shielded from that. :)

Well clients can be difficult, I deal with them a lot being in the media industry.
The motto is: the client is always right. Sometimes times they can really be a pain so count until 3 before you speak. Display endless understanding....

Until you feel comfy - be polite with your colleagues but do not get involved in any gos and take what they are telling you too seriously. Take your time to be able to judge by yourself. Stay clear of office politics. Do your job "in and out style".

Dear Tuxie - this will be quite a change but on the other hand it's exciting and challenging!

I wish you loads of fun and success.

Thanks mashmac! :)

The increase in salary will be a BIG plus. Just the fact that I'll be back at 40 hours a week will help. I have some plans I'm saving toward. :naughty:

It's tough to change... especially since I was at my old company for 27+ years. I almost feel like a fish out of water. On top of that, they're like trying to jam a months worth of training into 1 week. They've been very busy. I think I've done more work in one day than I even came close to in two weeks at my old employer.

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. :)

I know how that can be to be suddenly in something completely foreign, love. I also know how it feels to feel rushed through training. Though, in my job I'm lucky to have nice and helpful managers ready to answer my questions. Your in my prayers, baby.

Hold in there Tuxie. It probably just seems to you as if you are working more.
Once you get used to it, you will feel much more comfortable. And remember what you are saving for - :D at tuxette. It's worth it!

@ aussie ~ I don't think I'd mind the hard work, getting worked into it a little more slowly would be nice. *In an TV announcer voice* ~ 'He goes from 0 to 60 in 2.52 seconds' lol out loud

Thanks all for the thoughts, prayers, and general encouragement.

Yeah, I hear ya. With me, I would hit the lotto twice before getting a good manager. LOL
