Memorial Day Observed

In the US, today we take time to stop and set aside a day to remember those who have lost their lives in battle. Not only do I like to take this time to remember those, but I also like to reflect on the lives of those special people in our lives that have passed on. If you would, please share with us some of those people whom you hold dear to your hearts. Please list the date they passed also if you would.

I'm not exactly sure in which countries Memorial Day is observed today (5/28). Your particular country may observe some type of memorial observation at some other time of the year. If so, please share that with us also.
