Engage in relationships through the internet knowing it's "long distance" and that it would be unlikely that they would be seeing each other anytime soon? Is it for the attention? Feeling loved? Etc?

Guess this applies more to the younger people because I know the younger ones don't have the money to travel.

Anybody have any idea?

I think people "fall in love" online because there's a connection. You get to talking to someone & you enjoy the conversations, you find out alot more about each other just from talking.

The physical intimacy doesn't get in the way because you can't be phycially intimate, so your getting to know a person the old fashioned way, instead of just "jumping in to bed" & not getting to know WHO each other is.

Alot of time online relationships don't work out because 1 or the other, or even both can't find the extra money to meet in person & see if it will really be good between them. Then again there are those times when the people do meet & it just doesn't "click" in real life.

You just never know when that spark will happen. I think sometimes people engage in online relationships not knowing a spark is going to happen. Maybe they're just looking or open to a little conversation... and then they suddenly realize they're falling for the other person. Sure, it can be hard to keep it up over time if you aren't able to actually be with each other, but it's not impossible. I know people that have gotten married despite long distance relationships.

I personally dont understand the reason. Maybe they dont want to be commited but need attention?
