Hope I am not offending anyone by asking this but just curious as I live in another part of the world and most of you from what I gathered are from the US or Northern America.
What do you think about sending more of your troops to Iraq?

I think it stinks.... but, I look at it a little differently than most people. We elected Mr. Bush as President, and unless he does something really wacko... I feel we should stand behind him. That's probably not a popular viewpoint... but I've never been accused of 'going with da flow'. *shrugs*

Thanks for answering Tuxguy - it's just that for us on the other side of the ocean it's hard to understand that more young boys are being sent there to fight and die.
But - you are right - your President has been democratically elected so you have to support him. I know this is a sensitive issue so please to all out there - don't get mad at me!

Don't apologize for bringing up touchy subjects... it's what good discussions are made of. It is my wish for this forum, to be able to grant members the freedom to express themselves... or start discussions (within reason) without feeling threatened. It is a good subject to talk about. Obviously, there might be some history of heartache involved with this particular subject. I don't want to see anyone lose their life over anything. And I guess, there has been some talk of starting up the draft again in the US... and this may affect my son. I'm not crazy about that prospect... not at all.

It's a tough issue.
Is it right to continue the occupation? Is it right to abandon Iraq to internal ethnic/religious strife?
It appears the original plan for going about this war has created an outcome with no 'right' answer. This assessment could be accused of hindsight 20/20, but to that I have to note the massive opposition to the war pre-invasion in 2003. A great many of us could imagine the negative outcome(s); unfortunately, it's the Iraqis that will have to pick up the pieces.

I have mixed feelings about the war. I love the US and I am proud to be American...but I do believe we were lied to and continue to be lied to concerning many important matters. I do not believe everything is a big old conspiracy theory or anything...but things are not right.
I think we are in a position of a "no win situation". No matter what we (US) do...we are gonna lose...more men/women, respect, power, money, etc.
It is a terrible thing...

I just found this on another site...I hope you don't mind me posting it here.

Look closely ....
Bush Picture composed of 670 Dead US Soldiers-
This picture was sent to Gibbs Magazine from Congressman Jesse Jackson's office. Look at it closely and
see that is it composed of 670 soldiers killed in Iraq.* This is a war that was supposed to be about moving WMDs
that were never there. And after extensive search, all reports are that no weapons were Iraq since 1995.
For Bush, when the WMD rationale did not work, the government argued the liberation of Iraq from a "Brutal Dictator
that killed his own people." We could not have that dictator in Iraq. However, the US stood idly by in
Rwanda as a half a million died; we now stand idly by as more die in Darfur. Where is our concern for
those poor people?
It is difficult to accept a rationale that this administration is concerned about the liberation or safety of Iraqis
or any people who are not white. This, sadly, is the harsh truth of America's history.

The scary thing is that he is into some sort of spiritual war that he believes is just because of his evangelical views - he is fighting the forces of evil. there is no winner in this war. just a lot of bodies. i really don't see an end to it.
don't want to offend any evangelical Christians out there. sorry.

think Riggs's is saying that Bush said that the war in Iraq very soon will be someone else's problem. think you have presidential elex coming up soon and the next president is the one who will have to deal with the war in iraq.
well at least you can't say he is not speaking his mind!
