A former US beauty queen and promising law student is being investigated for the alleged kidnap and torture of her ex-boyfriend.
Kumari Fulbright — a 2006 contender for the Miss Arizona title — has been indicted on charges of armed robbery, aggravated robbery, kidnapping and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the Arizona Daily Star reports.
Police believe 25-year-old Fulbright kidnapped and assaulted her boyfriend with the help of three other men during a 10-hour long ordeal in Tucson, Arizona, on December 8.
According to court documents, the four attackers pointed guns at the man and threatened his life as they held him captive across two houses in different parts of the city.
The papers allege Fulbright shoved a butcher's knife in her 24-year-old boyfriend's ear and bit him a number of times in the neck.
The kidnappers also stole a briefcase, mobile phone and between $500 and $700 from a wallet the man was carrying.
The victim managed to escape when he reached for Fulbright's gun, which discharged and allowed him to flee from the house screaming for help.
Police said the man's injuries were consistent with his account of the events.
Fulbright, who has clerked for a US District Court Judge as a university student, was released from jail on a $56,000 bail.
She was crowned Miss Pima County in 2005 and Miss Desert Sun in 2006.
