A man fired a shot into the air before robbing a pizza parlour south-east of Melbourne overnight.
The owner closed the restaurant in Tyabb about 10.15pm (AEDT) and was outside with some employees when a man walked from the bushes across the road, a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.
The man stopped at the median strip on Frankston-Flinders Road and fired a shot into the air before approaching the owner, who put the night's takings on the ground and stepped away, the spokeswoman said.
The bandit picked up the money and fled down Mornington-Tyabb Road, heading to the rear of the shops.
No one was injured.
The man is described as being slim, of medium height and wearing a balaclava, dark jacket and red three-quarter-length pants.
Members from the Armed Crime Taskforce are investigating and witnesses are asked to contact police.
